Scripture Contemplations

A Word Paints a Thousand Pictures

I was at my church in prayer early on Wednesday morning, April 29, 2009. As I was praying I began to pray some Scripture I have committed to memory from St. James.

“Thank you, LORD that You are the Giver of all good things. Every good and perfect gift is from above; coming down from the Father of Lights, in Whom is no variableness or shadow of turning.” I memorized the first chapter of James over ten years ago. During that time I was reading the King James Version. =) Then I continued onto verse 18. “Of His own will begat He us with the word of truth…”

What did you call me?

Mark 10:17-21; Parallels: Matthew 19, Luke 18

"And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, 'Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?'

And Jesus said unto him, 'Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor thy father and mother.'

And he answered and said unto him, 'Master, all these have I observed from my youth.'

The Could Samaritan

A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and the stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
